It’s Beginning to Look A Lot like Christmas

Halloween is only just starting to get big here in Australia. Our Oct 31st tradition of closing the blinds and ignoring the one neighborhood kid who watches too much American TV is changing slowly but Christmas is still the focus. I get very excited when the tinsel and plum puddings start appearing mid-October and have started stocking up for the big day.

My favourite shop displays are at David Jones. I found this beautiful massive tree yesterday. This tree was taller than our apartment roof! I should’ve put my sister next to it for scale but trust me it was huge!

I usually host a big family dinner on Christmas Eve and we spend Christmas Day with my husband’s family before dodging wildfires to visit my family in the bush on Boxing Day. Busy enough? This year I want to add something though. I intend to make Lottie an advent calendar with homemade crocheted trinkets and a verse from the Nativity Story in each day’s package. Does anyone else have a home made advent calendar? What do you include? Does it keep the kids engaged all month long? A friend of mine is a Sunday school teacher and she has some interesting ideas about telling toddlers the Christmas story.

I’m super excited and will be posting our advent updates here 🙂

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Liz xx
